Testimonials From Those I’ve Swapped Work With

Nicholas Adams (The Heir of the First Tower)

[Amy] has an insightful eye to the art of storying telling. She gave me a multitude of notes on where my story lacked clarity, as well as strong points in my prose, story-building, and narrative voice. The chapter by chapter overview helped me the big picture from a new pair of eyes and where the holes that need to be filled exist.”

Ashley Casey (The Practitioners)

If you’re searching for an editor that will respect your vision, while providing the honest feedback you need, then you’re in the right place. Elysia’s in depth answers to critique questions had me nodding along, laughing, and facing some hard truths. Her in-text notes were extensive, and critical insight in to her understanding of the story I was trying to tell. Lastly, her author confidence booster sheet encouraged me to write, and keep writing. Erin Simpson (The Blood Farm)

I had a great experience having Amy edit my manuscript. In addition to delivering quality line and developmental edit notes in a very short time, she was very gracious about being available to bounce ideas back and forth even after she had finished going through the manuscript. She did a fantastic job pointing out weak areas of my novel and suggesting way to improve them while also being an encouraging voice in what can sometimes be a very discouraging process.”

Elysia is great. Her editorial comments are thorough, thoughtful, and supportive. She always provides suggestions for ways to improve your manuscript, incorporating your ideas into her own so that the results feel organic and true to your story, but improved. And she is quick to cheer your strengths at the same time so you come out of the editorial experience feeling confident in your path forward AND in your ability to accomplish it. She is prompt and kind and meets her deadlines. Bottom line, she is a great choice for your editorial needs.”

James Aichinger (Edge of the Flame, Shadows of Creation)

“I am a first time indie author, who was lucky enough to be offered a free review of my first book and a critique of my second by Elysia Strife. Having had a number of negative experiences with people reading my drafts, I was naturally a little nervous of giving anyone the chance to see my unfinished work. I am glad to say that working with Elysia has turned that view around.

Quite simply, it was a joy to work with Elysia. She was both professional and knowledgeable, while at the same time personal and friendly. Within days of having received my work she had moved up her schedule to support my first book’s release, published a review on that book and provided a number of useful tips to publishing and gaining exposure that I was unaware of.

Elysia’s review was thorough, insightful and honest in both the triumphs and flaws of my work. Unlike many reviews it was not simply a paragraph indicating a like or dislike of the story, but an in-depth analysis that informed without giving away anything of the plot. It left me, the author, wanting to know more about what she had read.

Shortly afterwards Elysia surprised and delighted me yet again with her critique of my second, unpublished, book. Having read on from the first in the series, it was an astonishingly tight turnaround. I received a full 9 pages of notes on both the positive aspects of my story so far, as well as its potential areas of improvement. Every sentence of the feedback was valuable and meaningful without a wasted word.

What really made Elysia’s review special was the clear passion she holds for good writing and her transparency of her thoughts on a piece. A competent reviewer will tell you what needs to be improved; Elysia will take you into the mind of your reader.”
